- Fill the boiler with 2 liters of demineralized water (tap water may
also be used) and screw the security vent plug into the tank, taking
care not to screw it in too tightly or too loosely. The use of
demineralized water is recommended to protect the internal components
from acquiring a buildup of minerals that occur in tap water.
DO NOT FILL THE BOILER COMPLETELY FULL. Some room must be left for the
build up of steam.
Two (2) liters of water will allow the iron to work for 3 to 4 hours
depending on the amount of steam required for different materials. For
example, 100% cotton and woolens require more steam that many
artificial fabrics. Use less water for shorter jobs. This will save
both energy and time as the iron will be ready sooner.
- Plug in the iron to the electrical source. When plugged in, the
"tension" warning light on the unit will be illuminated.
- Turn both the "iron" and the "boiler" switches to the "on"
position, illuminating them. Adjust the iron's thermostat to
medium. Depending on the amount of water in the boiler, you should
wait between 5 and 10 minutes for 220 volts 50 cycles and 10 to 15
minutes for 110 volts 60 cycles. When the "steam" warning light
on the unit is illuminated, the equipment is ready for use. As you work,
the same light will alternately switch on and off because of the boiler
temperature. This is normal and you will be able to continue working.
- Once the unit is ready for use, the first steam blow will sometimes
be accompanied by a few drops of water flowing through the iron's
sole. This is condensation resulting from the steam passing through
the cooler rubber hose that connects the boiler to the iron. This is
normal. With the second steam blow, only steam will appear. However,
note that you need to adjust the iron's thermostat, setting it
to the required level of steam.
- The amount of steam generated can be regulated by using the steam
regulator found between the handle and the antenna on the top of the
unit.
- If, while you are ironing, you notice a decrease in the volume of
steam, this indicates that the boiler is nearly empty. The "steam"
warning light will switch off. When this occurs, refill the
boiler by following these steps:
- Completely turn off the unit.
- Slowly unscrew the security vent, allowing any residual steam
still present to escape gradually.
- Refill the boiler, taking care not to fill it completely full.
- When you have finished ironing, or intend to be away from the unit
for a long time, turn all switches to the "off" position and unplug
the unit from the electrical source. Let out the steam present in
the boiler by same operation of point 6.B. It is not necessary to drain
the water from the boiler tank.
- The next time you use the equipment, carefully note the water
still present in the boiler as you begin to fill it, using the
transparent level stick provided with the unit.
